Dr. Jo Herzog
MD
Dr. Herzog was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She attended CUNY, where she spent a year in Britain as an exchange student and then went on to Cornell University to do graduate work in medical anthropology.
While there, she decided her true love was clinical medicine and went on to study medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City followed by a residency in Dermatology at Penn State, where she met her husband, Bob. The two moved to Alabama for Bob to do a fellowship at UAB. They fell in love with Alabama and decided that this was the place that they would call home. Their five children were born and raised in Birmingham.
Since residency, she has done extensive additional training in aesthetic/cosmetic and surgical dermatology and has done many of the clinical trials for the medications now being used to treat various disorders, including some of the cosmetic fillers that we use daily. Over time she has become an experienced and expert injector having used almost all of the cosmetic products that are and have been on the market as well as having done some training of other physician injectors. She believes that her love for cosmetic dermatology stems from growing up with a mother who was a painter /sculptor and watching her create forms and faces on paper and in three dimensions.
Dr. Herzog is a member of the Medical Association of the state of Alabama, The Jefferson County Medical Society and the American Academy (board) of Dermatology. She is very active in the Alabama Dermatology Society where she is a past president.
